Whish Renewing Mud Mask-Retail $48

I've tried quite a few mud masks out there: Bobbi Brown, Origins, Elizavecca, Glamglow, Boscia... Mud masks are usually advertised to be detoxifying, help with unclogging pores, and purifying. Most of the time, the issue with mud masks is that it can feel like it's sucking the life out of your skin since most of the time instructions tell you to put it on until dry, usually10-15 minutes. This whish renewing mud mask retails at $48 and advertised to renew, purify, smoften, and smooth.  What makes it different, if anything?

Performance:

I actually didn't have very high expectations for this mask. But surprisingly it changed my perspective on what a clay mask could be like.

I used this 1-2 times a week, and each time for 2 months I was pleasantly surprised how quick this mask did work. This mask is easily spreadable and takes around 6-7 pumps to apply a thin layer all over the skin. It's also a fast-acting kaolin clay mask that only requires 15 seconds and during that short time, it was quite cooling to the skin. You could actually feel like it was doing work (no stinging sensation), and the cooling sensation even lasted a little longer after rinsing it off. After wash-off my skin did look brighter and felt more invigorated-definitely helped wake me up! It felt minty a little, but not quite. Since this mask has exfoliating properties due to the bionatural tropical enzyme, I did notice smoother skin after use. The product also washes off easily since you only need to apply a thin layer.

Verdict

Given the pleasant experience, clean ingredients, and the fact it made my skin feel & look smooth and clean without dehydrating it, I would say it's worth the price (which is pretty high for a 2 oz clay mask!). This is just a clay mask that is quick, effective, and lasts for a long time. So far I've been using it 2 times a week for two months and it seems like I still have a little over half  of product left (I'm estimating since the packaging isn't clear)! The only thing that bothers me that for the higher price tag, water is the first ingredient, which is sort of a bummer. But given it's uniqueness in the clay mask world that serves multiple purposes, I would recommend this product, especially to a busy woman who doesn't have all the time in the world to wait too long for a mask, even for $48. IF you are already using a retinol product, however, I would not recommend this for you.

As always, try to find a deal! Or try looking on Poshmark where some sellers will sell it completely new for a discounted price.

This mask was an add-on item for $29 for FabFitFun, so if you are a FFF member, I would recommend you pick this up! If you don't know what FabFitFun is, read my post here about this seasonal box subscription and if it's worth it or not.
