Unsponsored Quince Fine Jewelry Review

Another Quince review coming at you, on Valentine’s Day! If you’re reading this review, you probably know about Mejuri, the popular jewelry brand that I’ve been supporting for over 5 years now. Normally I can only afford their vermeil pieces, but have been hearing from several different people complain about them tarnishing easily, I started looking for an alternative brand for better quality pieces that didn’t break the bank. During that search I found that the keywords “fine jewelry” are thrown around loosely by a lot by brands, and could mean anything from vermeil to solid gold, so I began to check more closely for the material brands are using, ideally solid gold since those truly will last a lifetime. So in 2020 I started revamping my jewelry collection, only investing in solid gold and/or gold filled pieces.

I literally have an excel spreadsheet of brands I was interested in, their price points, availability of vermeil/solid gold/gold filled…and that’s the rabbit hole I’m coming from when I’m writing this review. Last year I had to be realistic with myself and although vermeil was better quality than gold plated, I am just not the type of person that is willing to take off my pieces every single time I shower or wash my hands to prevent them from being damaged. That’s how I found Quince. Their jewelry collection is expanding, and most of their pieces are solid gold or white gold (white gold is hard to find nowadays in a brand!). Style-wise identical to Mejuri but more affordable so I was drawn in…

As you can probably see, the specs are identical most of the time, only the pricing is different. Also keep in mind Quince is free shipping all year round. The only time I would go for Mejuri over Quince is when they have their 20% off sale and beats the price of the Quince one with shipping costs in mind.

*Forgot to include that the Quince eternity ring clarity is SI1

Performance/Thoughts:

*All of these are made from solid yellow or white gold. Also note that all of their jewelry sell out quickly, and many times are slow to restock (I’ve waited months for the circle ring and bold hoops before). So try to grab it when you can.

-14k Circle Ring $89.90: Love, no other thoughts.

- Beaded Ring $74.99: Side by side with the Mejuri version, the beads look a tiny bit less defined, but still very similar. (see picture above)

- Eternity Ring $499.90: Took FOREVER to ship to me with no notice on arrival/ship date which was really, really annoying. I waited a little more than one month and I had to email the rep several times to see when it would get shipped to me. This is my least favorite piece yet most expensive one. I’m not sure if I’m just being picky, but since the diamonds are 360, it kind of pricks the sides of my other fingers and it’s a bit annoying imo-I wish the diamonds were a bit more flush to the band for comfort. Also, no returns on this one so be sure of your size! They recently came out with a diamond band set halfway around the band, so if I could do it again, I’d go for that one. *2024 update: To be very honest, I’d pass on this one. I rarely wear it because it’s not as comfortable to wear.

-Diamond Bar Necklace $199.90: Very simple and pretty! Really appreciate that its adjustable to make it more layer-able with other necklaces in my collection. Hardware feels sturdy; the bar doesn’t feel like it’s going to snap off the chain.

-14k Gold Solo Mini Hoop (single) $29.90: The cutest little huggie you ever did see. It’s so light I forget it’s there. These earrings are sold as singles to make sure to put two in your cart! In my opinion, these huggies are pretty long lasting because the clasps clasp pretty tightly, even with time.

-Classic Diamond 0.12 Earrings $219.90: The backing is more secure than most studs I’ve had in the past, which is often a dealbreaker for me because I’ve lost countless earrings and backings when doing daily tasks (like getting dressed/undressed). *2024 update: these are the earrings I wear most often with my second piercing!

-Everyday 14mm Hoop Earrings $49.90: Not my favorite of the selection of earrings. The size and material is great, but is a twist-open kind of situation and is more difficult to get on/off. If you’re not going to be taking this on and off a lot then it’s no biggie; I’m just being picky here.

-14k Gold Hoops $99.90: Beautiful minimal hoops; I’ve gotten these for friends in the past and you can’t go wrong! I also sleep on my side with these, and they never bother me at all. *2024 update: I have multiple sets of these and I find that sometimes over time the notch that the other side clasps onto may wear down over time, making it more likely to come off.

Sizing: All rings I got in size 6. I’m normally a 5 3/4, but this size worked out just fine for me. Even better, these rings fit on multiple fingers which is a plus! I wish Quince made a ring sizer because I know sizing can vary from brand to brand, but when I reached out to them they basically gave me a non-answer and so point is: they don’t have one. Guess your size best you can!

Packaging:

Packaging-wise, jewelry pieces come with a rounded black polishing cloth baggie and a plastic bag containing the actual pieces. For the eternity ring, a black box also came with it. In this regard Mejuri definitely wins in the packaging department-even if you’re buying something for yourself it feels like you’re actually giving yourself a gift.

Verdict:

Would recommend every piece I’ve gotten except for the everyday hoop earrings (since they’re most of a hassle to put on) and the eternity band (took 1+month to arrive). The earrings are by far the pieces I wear most often and don’t take off since I can rest assured they won’t come off easily or tarnish while showering. Would recommend every piece except for the everyday hoop earrings since they’re most of a hassle to put on. Overall, I would definitely purchase more from Quince-their quality did not disappoint.
