SOLVED SKINCARE Coconut Oil Cleansing Pads-Retail $25

It’s been a minute since I blogged! I’m trying to be more consistent on here and put out more thorough reviews. More often. This particular product is gifted from Sokoglam, but here is my honest review. My opinion has changed from not super enjoying this product to constantly reaching for it, and eventually emptying it.

Specs:

  • Free of parabens, pigment, artificial fragrance, animal ingredients, surfactants, mineral oil, alcohol and silicone. Vegan and cruelty free.

  • 40 pads

  • Scent: Coconut oil

  • Non-comedogenic

  • Format: Double-sided finger pocket pads

Ingredients:

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Tryglycerides, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate

(Isn’t that shortest ingredient list ever?)

Performance:

This 3-ingredient oil cleanser is the first of its kind that I've seen in this format. Similar to the Neogen gauze pads that I'm a huuuge fan of these soft, pocketed cotton pads that swipe away sunscreen and makeup easily. After using this pretty consistently, I'll just say that I'm a huge fan of the format, but a little indifferent with the formula. Rest assured, it's not because of the coconut oil (it's formulated to be non-comedogenic), but rather because it doesn't emulsify as easily as I'd prefer.

First time I used this I splashed a little too much water at once, leaving my skin still feeling greasy after rinsing. After experimenting a little more, I found that working in a little bit of water at a time (slowly emulsifying) is the key to make sure it comes off clean completely and rinses off with no oily residue.

I know it doesn't matter that much since I usually use a second step cleanser anyway, but honestlyyyyy I feel like with other oil-based cleansers available on the market, I'd rather stick to a formula that's quicker at emulsifying. Just my preference. This isn't a bad product! -Earlier this year

UPDATE: Since I first wrote this review, I’ve actually just adjusted to applying water slowly to emulsify but I’ve actually ended up reaching for these oil cleansing pads A LOT. To the point where I’m almost done with all 40 pads! Opinions change!

I'm actually excited for more brands to jump onto this oil- cleansing-pad bandwagon because swiping away makeup just feels less messy than than the traditional way. I could see many love this though! Especially if you wear makeup everyday.

Verdict:

Fine product, but wouldn’t repurchase despite the awesome format. I still prefer my Kopari cleansing oil (although more expensive) or the Banila Clean it Zero cleansing balm.

*COUPLE MONTHS LATER: I take it back! I’ve almost emptied the whole thing and I think I definitely would repurchase! The format is just ideal for taking off makeup, one and done!

Save Some $:

I feel like $25 isn’t unreasonable, especially for 40 pads, but if you want another oil cleanser in this format, I think this one is the only one! If format doesn’t matter to you, I’d go with the Banila Co Clean it Zero Purity ($24 normally) but it’s available everywhere online so it’s easy to get a deal.
