Performance:

Let me just begin by saying that I miss this kind of simplistic lightweight packaging. Of course, pump packaging is the best, but it can often be too heavy and at the end, it's so hard to dig out extra product at the very bottom. This flexible tube packaging is lightweight and easy to use, so I appreciate that a lot even though it seems so simple.

The texture of this moisturizer is not a gel, but also not a heavy cream. It feels more like an emulsion that packs a punch of moisture that a lighter cream provides. It's very spreadable and moisturizes my skin all day. Also a plus, it leaves a healthy-looking glow to the skin. I have combo-oily skin, so if I'm out running errands all day, it does leave me a little oily at the end of the day, but that's really not too out-of-the ordinary in outdoor conditions. At work, however, since it's indoors and the AC air can be dry, I still feel moisturized without being overly-oily. I also didn't have any problems with irritation, which makes sense since this product is designed to be safe for sensitive skin.

Usually in my regular skincare routine, I normally use vitamin C serums serving as an antioxidant source that also helps brighten and protect the skin from free radicals, but what's even better is that this moisturizer contains Vitamin C and E. Why does that matter at all? These two tag team to prevent free radicals from damaging cell membranes in the skin, and the effect is way more than (4x I believe) what these ingredients could do on their own. (How these actually work is an entire post on its own. I will not be going over that, but since knowledge is power, below is one of the videos that really helped me understand and define what antioxidants do in relation to free radicals.

A helpful easy way to understand Oxidative stress and the role of antioxidants.

In such a polluted environment in socal where the sun is also blazing more than half the year, I really would appreciate all the sun protection I can get. On top of that, hyperpigmentation and discoloration is my main skin concern, so it makes a great wombo-combo with my Vitamin C serum. Take extra care that you're using sunscreen on top of this product since there's Vitamin C (you should be doing that anyway)!

I can't say if this product specifically has been lightening dark spots from scarring/hyperpigmentation since I do exfoliate and use actives regularly, but I do know that this product is an awesome accompaniment to my skincare routine. Honestly I don't know why I never really hear anyone talking about this moisturizer!

Verdict

Since moisturizers typically last a long time for me, I think this product is definitely worth it despite the steep price tag. It's a foolproof way to stay moisturized and get the antioxidant protection together in one product. To put into perspective, if I'm willing to pay ~$30 for the Belif Aqua Bomb, I think it's worth it to pay a little more for even more skincare benefits than just hydration and moisturization. R
