My "Extra" Shower Routine Pt.1

Pt 1: Face & Body

I've been wanting to share this shower routine for a looong time now. I've been testing out so many of these products, and so I thought I'd share my shower routine for those times I want an excuse to stay extra long in a nice, hot shower.

Face

Heimish All Clean Balm

This is my first step oil-based cleanser. I love this more than the Banila Co All Clean Balm because of its natural scent which I love, affordability, and its ingredient list. This takes off all the makeup, oil, and SPF from the day.

Cosrx Good Morning Low pH Cleanser+Clarisonic Mia1

This is one of those cleansers that I will always repurchase. Not only is it affordable, but is effective and clean. It's a low pH cleanser that does that a cleanser is supposed to do. Combined with the Clarionic, my face feels extra clean every time.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate

This was one of those products that I would always get samples of while at Sephora. I could never pull the trigger to buy it full price, so when it was included in the Winter Fabfitfun box, I was SO excited. This is a manual+chemical exfoliator, and it is strong. I aint about the facial "scrubs" that don't  scrub, okay? I have hyperpigmentation and have been dealing with flaky, rough skin recently due to my contact dermatitis (long story, blog post coming soon), so exfoliation was especially necessary for me. There is a tingling upon application, but every single time I use this my complexion is smooth and looks brighter after the dead skin cells are all sloughed off. A little goes a long way, so one tube lasts a long time!

Scinic Honey All In One Ampoule

From the name you're probably wondering why I'm using an ampoule (aka serum) in the shower. I've had this for a long time but stopped using it as a serum in my skincare routine because of the stickiness. I couldn't stand it, so it's been left out, forgotten until recently. I've always wanted to try splash masks to replenish hydration in the shower, but since they are quite expensive, I repurposed this one as an in-shower mask. I mean, there no real reason why ampoules can't be used in the shower right? While it's not commonly used this way, I personally love it (especially because this product is so dang inexpensive). My hot showers combined with exposed, damaged skin from my reaction dried out my skin even more, this ampoule replenished, soothed and provided a thick, protective layer to my skin for the remaining duration of my shower routine. Honey is a great natural humectant, antibacterial, and antioxidant, so I couldn't find a better way to use this besides in the shower!

Body:

Glossier Body Hero Daily Oil Wash

Honestly at first I hated this product. I thought it smelled like Coppertone Sunblock (which I still do), but the only reason I kept using it over and over again is because of the texture of the product. I love that this shower oil dispenses easily from a pump and feels just like my favorite L'occitane Almond Shower Oil that I never buy because of the price tag. It's such a comforting formula that washes off easily without any residue. I just wish that the smell wasn't of sunblock.

Spongelle: Pear Freesia

I got this as an add-on in my Fabfitfun Fall box. Since so many customers love this, I thought I'd give it a try. I love that every time I use this, it gives a good scrub and is a nice, easy body wash+exfoliator in one. One Spongelle holds enough wash for 14 washes, but in my experience, it's lasted me longer than that. I love it, but would never buy this for normal price!

OR

Organic Doctor Organic Rose Otto Face Scrub

I received this for free, but instead of using this on my face, I used it on my body instead, which worked great. There's just enough grit to feel like I'm giving a good scrub without it dissolving too fast. I do use quite a bit of body scrub at one time, so the fact that this was free never made me feel guilty to apply generously.

Natura Brasil Triple Phase Shower Oil

I bought this on a whim because it's winter, and wanted an easy way to moisturize inside the shower. Because I love taking hot showers, it dries out my body and to be honest, I'm not the most diligent about applying lotion afterwards. This was such an innovative and luxurious product. Not only did it smell good, it actually did something good for my skin. This was the last step of my shower routine. I apply it after cleansing, apply it all over, then rinse it briefly. My skin feels moisturized, but not overly-slippery or greasy. However, I will note that it does leave a residue on the floor of the tub, so be careful while stepping in/out of the shower! As an OT personnel, I recommend a non-slip shower mat for everyone out there (even if you're not using this product).

Fell in love with this product so much that it's pretty much replaced my body lotion out of laziness. Excited to try more from this brand!
