Shangpree Black Premium Modeling Mask-Retail $20

Modeling masks are very different from traditional masks. This isn't a wash off mask, nor is this a sheet mask. This modeling mask starts off as a thick gel-liquid that hardens into a peel off mask. One mask comes with a spatula and bowl for mixing as well as the 2 packettes that you mix together before application. Shangpree is actually a well-known spa in S.Korea, and 15 years ago, this was only available at that spa. Today it's available for purchase to be used as a spa treatment at home.  $20 is quite pricey, so is it worth the money?

Performance:

Usage of this mask was very easy. Simply mix the 2 packets together, and spread it using the spatula. The spatula was surprisingly easy to use to apply. Normally, I end up using my hands, but I actually only had to use my hands to spread the product over and around my nose. You're going to have to work quite quickly because the products turns into a rubbery texture and is supposed to solidify on your face for easy removal. The product isn't messy, and doesn't move once you apply it. There is also a cooling (but not tingly) sensation throughout the masking process, which I really enjoyed. I was able to go about my business for the duration of the masking time. On the box, it says to peel it off after 15-20 minutes, but according to Alicia Yoon, founder of Peach & Lily, this keeps your skin hydrated for up to 48 hours so technically you could leave it on all day-literally.

This mask easily peels off in one-piece, and leaves the skin glowy and hydrated. It's slightly sticky, but it's not wet-feeling like after a traditional sheet mask. This was one of the rare times that I was able to keep myself from rinsing my face off after a mask!

Verdict:
I'm not usually a HUGE fan of non-wash off masks, but this really surprised me! This was much, much more comfortable to use rather than the traditional sheet masks. With sheet masks, they often drip everywhere, down your neck. This mask does what it claims! It is hydrating, soothing and pore-refining. I loved the simplicity, no-mess, soothing, cooling quality of this mask. This is unlike anything else I've tried, and the fact that it's pore-refining but intensely hydrating at the same time makes this unique. The fact that I can keep it on all day makes this worth it in my opinion. This isn't something I'd buy all the time, but perhaps just as a once-in-awhile treat.
