Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal+Peppermint Jelly Conditioner-Retail $36

Honestly I had such high hopes for this product that I bought 2 (discounted, duh). And what a foolish choice that was! Of all the bloggers and Youtubers I have followed, none ever said anything negative about the brand. Because it’s a clean brand and supposedly performs beautifully. So I definitely was surprised when this didn’t work out for me.

Performance:

Ok, first of all…I don’t use conditioner on my scalp. Just sayin’. But I assume that even though this is a scalp soothing product, in reality it’s just part of Briogeo’s Scalp Revival line. They do have a highly-popular micro-exfoliating shampoo, and this is the conditioner to pair with it. For me, I don’t own that shampoo, and just used another brand.

There are a few things I do like about this product. It’s minty scent-wise, but it also does leave your scalp (yes, I did try it on my scalp) minty and fresh feeling. The texture is not so much creamy, but gel-cream-like which is easily dispensed from the flexible tube. The idea of having charcoal in my hair care products also intrigued me, since charcoal draws out impurities, so after using shampoo this will further clean…right?

At the end I really disliked this product. I really have to apply A LOT of the product to cover all my hair (because I have a lot) and it just feels like most of it disappears and doesn’t detangle well. And after rinsing the product thoroughly, my hair feels heavier, and barely smooth and manageable. At first, I ignored this, thinking that it’ll be all better once my hair dries. To my horror, this formulation just leaves my hair feeling dirty and sticky. What did I do wrong? Did I not rinse well enough? Did I apply too much? Was it another product I used? But no. After 4 times of usage, it was confirmed that this conditioner was the culprit. And each of those 4 times I had to wash my hair an additional 2x the next two days to get the gunky feeling out. Guys, can you tell I really tried to make this work? I really wanted to love this but this really was just a horrid product for me. Wondering if anyone else out there experienced something similar?! Now…what do I do with this extra bottle.

Verdict:

Nope, this product made my hair too dirty-feeling and just weighed it down. This product created sooo much hassle for me! This doesn’t mean I hate the brand because I already love one of their blow dry cremes, but this conditioner was a no-go for me. I eventually want to try more from them though!

Skip this altogether and grab a Carol’s Daughter Conditioner at the drugstore! I’ve tried them earlier this year and never had any issue. Loved their shampoo and conditioners. I’ve also had great experiences with the Verb Ghost conditioners and hair masks.
