Performance:

I was so excited when I bought this years ago. I loved the light scent, the gel-like texture, and I loved the fact that it wasn't sticky when I went to bed. Application was easy, and easily layered as the last step on top of the rest of your skincare routine. However, even before falling asleep, I remember thinking "this doesn't feel that hydrating." ~shrug~ Maybe I'll see results in the morning. Next morning comes and to be honest, I didn't feel anything different. I didn't feel particularly hydrated so the next night, I slathered on more. And day after day I thought there was something wrong with me because this was a cult favorite product that was supposed to deliver a huge boost of hydration and...it just didn't do that for me. Or at least any more than my routine at the time (maybe my skincare routine was just that good?).

I eventually passed down this sleeping mask to my boyfriend (now husband) to get him to at least moisturize. After a long while, after I got married and he was still going through the product, I decided to pick it back up to give it a last shot. For the past month I've been having extremely dehydrated skin due to contact dermatitis because of the damage in the skin barrier. I did my upmost best to keep my skin as hydrated as possible, using oils as the last step. And using this sleeping mask before bed again didn't make a difference. No matter what I did+the slow-release moisture wrap technology from the product, my skin still woke up parched.

Verdict

I'm still not sure why this product didn't work out for me. Maybe it's because the gel-like consistency wasn't hydrating for what my skin needs? Even though this isn't an expensive product, personally I'd pass on this one if you have dry to very dry skin. I'd instead pay a little more for the Belif aqua bomb for a similar but just a bit more hydrating product.

Of course, what didn't work for me might work for you, but this is just my experience.

An alternative product (I've never tried tbh but also got good reviews) that's a tad cheaper ($15) with very similar texture is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizing Gel
